Battle over Texas sex-ed textbooks

From CNN, "... one textbook under review advises that a good way a teen-ager can prevent a sexually transmitted disease is to get plenty of rest so he or she can have a clear head about sex and choose abstinence." If only I had known about this when I was a teenager. Sorry mom, I have to rest today, you know, because of the sex.

You must be kidding!! Really, I mean, REALLY!!!! Get enough sleep, that will help you make clear decisions! Sure, rest, that works just as good as birth control.

Bwahaha! They had some similar sex ed text book quotes on NPR a few weeks ago. What amazes me about all of this garbage is that in a massive NPR/Kaiser/Kennedy School survey showed that only 15% of parents in America actually want abstinence-only. I guess being a teen during the AIDS awareness explotion, I got one of the few reasonable sex ed programs in OK ever.
